About GCFWatch LATIN AMERICA

With its abundance of renewable natural resources, Latin America has the potential to successfully work through the climate crisis. One of the region’s primary obstacles, however, is the lack of funds available for the implementation of climate strategies. The Green Climate Fund represents our best chance to tackle the climate finance issue, and civil society has a crucial role to play in its results. By championing the voices of communities in the territories, civil society can ensure the Fund’s Board be informed of on-the-ground realities that should be held vital to the decision-making process.

In this light, we invite all official and non-official observers of the Green Climate Fund to take advantage of this informational platform, and also to feed it, so as to make the most of the rich local knowledge from our own countries and communities. – Florencia Ortuzar, Regional Node for Latin America
